Resistograph analysis

Tree Environs

The Resistograph is an instrument used for determining the internal condition of wood. It provides valuable information on the extent of decay and hollows in trunks, limbs and roots.

Measuring the physical resistance of wood to a drill probe, the graphical readout from the Resistograph indicates the presence and depth of hollows or area/s of the timber affected by decay causing micro-organisms. This instrument provides additional information useful to our qualified consultants when combined with a visual tree assessment (VTA) where a determination of the level of risk posed by trees is required.

Due to the potential for additional wounding and disease transfer, the Resistograph is only used by Tree Environs Arborists to confirm our assessments where the degree of risk or importance of the tree warrants such intervention.
