The Air-SpadeĀ® is a non-destructive excavation tool that utilizes compressed air forced though a specialised nozzle to cut soil or gravel.

The jet of supersonic air can be used to excavate soil around tree roots or underground services. The Air-spade will only affect porous surfaces leaving pipes, tree roots, or other items undamaged. This enables exploratory digging for a variety of purposes in environments where excavations would normally be impossible via conventional methods other than hand digging.

The Air-spade can also be used for:

  • Soil decompaction as part of an overall tree health care management program.
  • Root collar excavation
  • Trenching
  • Root pruning
  • Root structure analysis
  • Unearthing underground utilities
